Defence Ministry releases first images from the F-16 mission
Romania Defence Ministry published on Sunday the first photographs from the F-16 mission that destroyed two Geran drones over the Black Sea. The images came a day after the drones entered Romanian airspace without authorisation and were neutralised within minutes near Sulina. The ministry said the operation took place on Saturday evening and involved Romanian pilots on air-policing missions.
Publishing the images documented the interception publicly, when drone incursions have become a recurring concern for Romania and its Black Sea neighbours. For Delta and coast residents, the question is how quickly radar, scrambling and interception join together; on Saturday that chain took a few minutes.
