Romanian F-16 jets shot down two drones over the Black Sea on Saturday evening after they entered airspace near Sulina. The first was engaged at about 17:59, two minutes after detection, 25 km south-east of Sulina; the second at 18:05, 20 km east of the town. The jets came from the 86th Air Base at Borcea after radar detected Geran attack drones.
Romania is on NATO eastern flank and has faced repeated drone incidents linked to Russia war on Ukraine. NATO will discuss Black Sea defence, Foreign Minister Oana Toiu said, calling the sea vital for grain, energy and industrial exports.
